Descrición:: This work addresses some of the challenges that Cuban Sign Language (LSCu) interpreters have faced while carrying out their work in the midst of the global crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It briefly discusses some of the elements that affect their professional performance, including the differences between sign languages and oral languages in terms of their modality of expression and comprehension, as well as use of the sign space (or gestural space). In addition, the document analyses factors related to the cultural identity of the Deaf community, taking a socio-anthropological approach. The document also mentions some of the significant challenges that LSCu interpreters have faced and the achievements they have made in meeting the growing needs of the Deaf community in various spaces, particularly in the field of television, are mentioned. Finally, the document highlights the benefits that Deaf people have received in terms of accessibility to media, which has led cultural development in this minority linguistic community and how it has affected the collective and individual development of the interpreters themselves.; Este trabajo aborda algunos de los desafíos que han tenido que enfrentar los intérpretes de lengua de señas cubana (en lo adelante LSCu) para desempeñar su labor en medio de la crisis global generada por la pandemia de COVID-19. Se hace un breve acercamiento a algunos de los elementos que inciden en su desempeño profesional. Entre estos, se destacan algunas de las particularidades que distinguen las lenguas de señas y las lenguas orales en cuanto a su modalidad de expresión y de comprensión y el uso del espacio de señación (o espacio gestual). Además, se analizan otros factores relacionados con la identidad cultural de la comunidad Sorda , percibiendo este grupo desde un enfoque socioantropológico. Adicionalmente, se mencionan algunos retos significativos que han enfrentado los intérpretes de LSCu y los logros alcanzados en su ejercicio profesional para cubrir las crecientes necesidades comunicativas de la comunidad Sorda cubana en diversos espacios, particularmente en el ámbito televisivo. Finalmente, se resaltan los beneficios recibidos en el nivel de accesibilidad a los medios de información por parte de las personas Sordas, con el consecuente impacto en el desarrollo cultural para esta comunidad lingüística minoritaria y cómo ha repercutido en el desarrollo de los propios intérpretes de manera colectiva e individual.
